Posted 22 October 2026. This notice will be updated as official guidance changes.
On Tuesday, 20 October 2026 the Federal Government confirmed a case of Ebola virus disease in the Federal Capital Territory, the first confirmed case in Nigeria since the 2014 outbreak. The patient, who had arrived in the country from Uganda, is in isolation, and contact tracing began immediately. The announcement was made by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, and health facilities across the country have been placed on alert.
Sheerah Verenda Full Life Initiative is not a health authority, and nothing on this page replaces official guidance. We are posting this because our communities ask us where to turn, and the answer is the official channels below.

What the authorities are asking of the public
- Stay calm, and rely on official sources rather than messages forwarded on social media.
- Wash your hands often with soap under running water, or use a hand sanitiser.
- Avoid contact with the blood or body fluids of anyone who is unwell.
- Report a possible exposure straight away, even if you feel perfectly well.
- If you develop symptoms, particularly after contact with a sick person or recent travel, avoid close contact with others and call for guidance before going to a health facility.
If you are unsure about anything in this notice, call 6232. It is free, and it is answered at any hour.
